Woo boy. Where do we even start?
First off, it’s awesome that so many people are drawn to Hideo Kojima like a bunch of rare earth magnets thrown into a bucket. Of course there’s TGA host/producer Geoff Keighley himself, but also Guillermo del Toro, Nicolas Winding Refn, Mads Mikkelson, and, as seen at The Game Awards this year, Norman Reedus.
Of course, it’s been a long time coming since P.T. and the cancelled Silent Hills project. And we’ve been busting our brains to figure out what the hell the last peek we got of Death Stranding at E3 2016 meant. In true Kojima fashion, we got a lot more information and pretty much zero answers. And that’s the way we like it.
There’s still Reedus, a baby, and oversized handprints in some black sand. (There’s always—whatever, you get it.) But now we know the handprints come from shadow monsters that move in an alternate but parallel existence, the baby wasn’t always in Reedus’ charge, and Reedus is in the employ of some organization that collects…something? We really have no idea, and clearly no one is spilling the beans.
As if even a single bean could explain what is going on inside Kojima’s unfettered brain. Just watch for yourself, I guess, and join the rest of the Internet in editing new stuff into the inside of Reedus.
There’s no release date yet, but we know it’ll be for the PlayStation 4.
